Hazardous Software™ Announces Two for One on Achron™ Purchases

Hazardous Software is pleased to announce the incorporation of a giftable copy with every purchase of its new time travel RTS "Achron", available at achrongame.com and Steam.

Additionally, a new patch, version 1.0.1.0, has been released on achrongame.com and Steam. It fixes a critical pathfinding bug where units would not move intelligently, among other improvements.

Spawn game functionality is something our fans have been asking for for a long time. We chose to go a step further, by including a free gift code for Achron with every purchase. This offer is retroactive to all purchases from the beginning of Achron's preorder release. It also lowers the bar of entry to many in the PC gaming community who have expressed interest in exploring Achron's well-received time travel mechanics.

"We believe in supporting the multiplayer community and enabling community growth, including the pathfinding patch released yesterday, which marks a noticeable improvement in Achron's gameplay.", said Shawn Stonesifer, Achron's associate producer.

Hazardous Software™ announced that a playable version of Achron™, the world's first meta-time strategy game, will be available for purchase for PCs starting January 1.

Redefining the pre-order, purchasers of the game will be able to immediately access five single player levels. Within these levels, players will learn command hierarchy, become familiar with time travel, and begin to utilize time travel strategies. In addition, the purchaser will receive all future major builds of Achron through the final release.

Hazardous Software is not only reinventing the real-time strategy genre with time travel but revolutionizing the way that game designers interact and deliver games to fans. The company is creating their own digital distribution platform to directly interface with gamers and be more responsive to fans. Purchasers will also gain access to mod and development tools.

Christopher Hazard, president and founder of Hazardous Software states, "Based on an extraordinary number of fan requests to begin experimenting with the time travel mechanism, we wanted fans to have the opportunity to participate in the creation of Achron by putting the novel technology directly into the hands of users."

Game sales will continue to further the development of Achron. Multiplayer functionality is projected to be released by March and more single player levels will be released along the way to the final release. "This innovative model allows independent game companies like us to continue to fund original, creative games" says Mike Resnick, lead developer and cofounder of Hazardous Software

Achron is available for immediate purchase at the game's official site, www.achrongame.com, along with pre-release bonus schedule and details.

Hazardous Software™ unveiled Achron™, the world’s first meta-time strategy game, at the 2009 Game Developers Conference® in San Francisco, California. The next revolution in time travel gameplay was demonstrated at the Experimental Gameplay Session.

Designed to reinvent the real-time strategy genre by allowing all players to travel through time, Achron is a futuristic science fiction game. Players and units have the ability to jump to and play at different times simultaneously and independently. Time travel is free and unlimited but it costs energy to change the time line. Players will be challenged to invent new strategies in a world where it is possible for them and their opponents to undo mistakes, change a strategy after committing to it, and alter the outcome of past battles.

"Time travel transforms the strategy game landscape,” stated Christopher Hazard, president and cofounder of Hazardous Software. “It opens up new dimensions of strategies and gameplay. For example, imagine being able to see when and where your opponents are going to attack before they do."

Achron features both a captivating single player campaign and an online multiplayer mode. In addition to being able to build, expand, and attack as in typical RTS games, new mechanisms such as command hierarchy and smart-idling ease the management of a complex time travel environment. An intuitive user interface depicts events in the past and future allowing the player to navigate the time line.

"Achron signifies the creation of a brand new sub-genre of video games that utilize gimmick-free time travel as one of the core gameplay mechanisms,” said Mike Resnick, lead developer and cofounder of Hazardous Software. "The popular type of time travel abundant in science fiction is now available to the gaming community."

Further information about the game will be released in the upcoming months. To learn more about Achron, please visit the official web site at www.achrongame.com.
